Memory Foam / Visco- Elastic
What NASA stumbled across in their success at making astronauts more comfortable during space launch has enabled the rest of us to be more comfortable during sleep. Visco-elastic (VE) foams were originally developed in the 1970’s by NASA to relieve the pressure of the tremendous forces of gravity the astronauts experienced during lift off.Visco-elastic is a superior slow recovery cushioning scientifically developed to perfectly contour to body shape. This reduces pressure on the body, which helps to improve circulation and provide better comfort and quality of sleep by decreasing tossing and turning. Without having to roll over and alleviate pressure you maintain a deep level of sleep significantly improving sleep quality optimising energy levels for the day.
Isn't it better for me to sleep on a hard mattress?
Absolutely not! A hard, nonconforming surface forces your body to adapt to its flat shape, bending your spine into an unnatural position and creating pressure points at the shoulders, hips, and feet, which can cause you to toss and turn trying to find a more comfortable position. The result: lower back pain and restless sleep.
Can I put my VE mattress on my current base?
Yes you can if it is a solid base, if it is an old sprung base there may be a support loss due to age.
Will my VE mattress make me hot?
The cells in VE are open and breathable, so the material is self-ventilating. However, due to the increase in circulation throughout your body, you may discover you need fewer blankets to sleep comfortably.
How long will it take for me to get used to the Visco-elastic mattress?
Some people are completely comfortable on the mattress right away. Others need some time to adjust to the remarkable amount of support and unique pressure relieving feel of the mattress. It conforms to the curves of the body, offering support along the spine with no discernable pressure on bones and joints. Because of this lack of pressure, circulation is encouraged during sleep making it easier and even preferable to sleep in the same position for hours at a time.
Is Visco-Elastic Hypo-allergenic?
VE has an anti-dustmite inhibitor helping to aid in respiratory ailments, this treatment also protects against mould and mildew.
How does "Visco-elastic compare to latex?
Latex and Visco-elastic are two very different products, each with their own distinct properties and feel, only you as the customer can decide which you prefer. For customers familiar with latex, it is important to contrast that Visco-elastic feels more moulded. Latex tends to bounce back quicker when touched, whereas Visco-elastic with its slow recovery will offer the sensation that your body is being conformed to. Both types of foam will reduce pressure points.
Pocket Springs
Our pocketed spring systems take you from a good nights sleep to a great nights’ sleep. These are the most conforming of all sprung mattress systems and so if you toss and turn, the Pocketed Coil springs go to work, softening and cushioning your body at every turn, so you sleep peacefully and undisturbed.
Each Individually cased pocket spring reacts independently to pressure, without affecting coils in other areas of the mattress. As a result our pocket spring mattresses provide a sleep surface that fully removes roll-together and greatly reduces partner disturbance.
